I'm 20 years old. I'm currently a photography major in college. I do not have any training with a camera currently, but love to experiment with lighting, subject matter, and my Canon powershot A630 digital point and shoot camera. I can't wait to get a nice camera next year when I start my photography classes. Enjoy my gallery and let me know what you think whether positive or negative!

The Human Body.

Thu Jan 22, 2009, 11:22 PM
I believe the human body to be a beautiful and mysterious thing. Everyone is different which creates so many different definitions of beauty. I honestly believe that everyone is beautiful. I believe men and women, white or black, tall or short, thin or thick, freckled or not, etc. to be beautiful.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

Everyone is the beholder. Everyone is beautiful. The trick is to love yourself and be able to find yourself to be beautiful. However, for most everyone this isn't an easy task. One tends to look for his/her flaws and picks his/herself apart, but sometimes the flaws are the most beautiful part. I'll admit it. I'm not a thin person. According to the people who make my clothes and put them in stores I'm right on the border of being plus sized. Although all of my friends are always shocked when they hear that. I will also admit that I struggle with my weight. Almost everyone does, whether you feel to thin or too thick.

This profile was created for a few reasons:
1. To learn and grow even more with my photography.
2. And lastly to be able to see myself as beautiful.

So far it has been going well in both aspects. I really enjoying experimenting with the body and shapes, joints, folds, rolls, crevices to see the body in a different way. I like to use macro and often times the shots look like a foreign landscape! Also looking at the texture of skin (I'm going to play with hair as well) and how it differs from place to place on one's body.

As I have been doing this I've been noticing and learning that I believe the body is more beautiful when it has curves, lines with character, contour. So, why does everyone strive to be so skinny? I don't think I will ever learn the answer to that question...and yet I fall subject to it time and time again.

I hope you enjoy my gallery.
